What to Expect
-
What age is The Critter Club for?
The Critter Club is designed for curious kids ages 4–6 who are ready to explore nature in a group setting.
-
Is it a drop off or stay-with experience?
This is a 2-hour drop-off experience, but parents are always welcome to stay and observe quietly if it helps their child feel comfortable.
-
Is my kiddo safe?
ABSOLUTELY! There is always risk playing outside as anywhere else. Maggie is Wild Med CPR and Wilderness First Aid Certified. Our First Aid kit is always near by.
-
What should my child wear?
PLAY CLOTHES! Ones you wont be upset if they get dirty.
This also depends on the weather! If its raining a raincoat and rainboots! Your child will 100% come home wet on rainy days.
If its snowing, a base layer (always recommend wool) and a shell coat, gloves, hat etc.
If its hot, I only ask that children wear close toed shoes- they can bring sandals to go home in.
A change of clothes is always a good idea.
-
Do you stay at the same location?
Exploring is about moving, and while we stay in the same area. If the kids decide to turn the nearby park into a mud kitchen we will move over there. This is a very child led nature based club.
-
What should my child bring?
A full water bottle & Change of clothes!
-
What if the weather turns bad?
We play in most weather — rain, shine, snow, or wind! The only exceptions are extreme weather (thunderstorms, high winds, or unsafe temperatures). In those cases, you’ll receive a text or email with updates.
-
WHat kind of activities will my child do?
We follow a child-led approach, which might include:
Bug hunting and bird watching
Mud play and potion-making
Nature walks and scavenger hunts
Learning to identify critters, tracks, and plants
-
What's your policy on sunscreen or bug spray?
We ask that parents apply sunscreen before arrival. For bug spray, we have a waiver form — we’ll only apply it if we have your permission or if you provide your own.
